Jewelry Box: A Luxurious and Artistic Apartment Interior

Design by Idan Chiang

Inspired by the owner's collection of ornamental earrings, the Jewelry Box apartment interior embodies the elements of fine jewelry in its design. With special craftsmanship and organic lines, this space brings the colorful and gorgeous structure of fine jewelry into a luxurious yet warm and emotional residence.

To echo the angular shape of the jewelry and the love for nature, irregular furnishings and furniture are used to form the space. The TV wall, inspired by the shape of an ornamental earring, adds a unique touch. Natural stones resembling the structure of jewelry are incorporated into the architectural details, showcasing fine craftsmanship. The main light on the dining table is reminiscent of the owner's travel memory of Kyoto during its maple season. Even the feather tile wall in the toilet is a collection from Harrods department store in England.

The realization of this design is a combination of artful furniture and careful attention to detail. The living room is designed in a lounge style, with a movable sliding door on the TV wall that symbolizes the geometric radiation of jewelry as art. In the study and dining room, Edra sofa, Serip lighting, and Moooi wallpaper present irregular organic lines and shapes. Floral patterns are reinterpreted through a modern and graphic perspective, showcasing a neoclassical form.

With a total area of 275 square meters, the Jewelry Box apartment features a master bedroom, a study, three dressing rooms, a master bath, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, and living room. The rich use of colors and materials contributes to the aesthetic elements that make up this luxurious space. By incorporating the living experience of the residents and the display of jewelry at different points in time, a unique and opulent residential style is achieved.

This project, led by designer Idan Chiang, started in 2020 and was completed in February 2021 in Taipei City, Taiwan. Extensive research on jewelry design, styles, and textures was conducted to transform jewelry elements into spatial elements. The result is a space that presents the value of jewelry through physical luster, color, and material touch, creating a distinct living environment for the residents.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was achieving the desired sapphire-like wall color. After experimenting with various shades of blue paint, the perfect deep sapphire color was achieved, adding a touch of elegance to the master bedroom.

The Jewelry Box apartment interior showcases the beauty of nature and the refinement of fine jewelry. Through abstraction and a delicate artistic approach, a neoclassical design is brought to life, creating a luxurious and refined residential space. This outstanding design has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022, highlighting its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities.
