Home Suite Home: A Curated Exhibition Installation

An Innovative Approach to Luxury and Boutique Hospitality

The concept of Home Suite Home, designed by Helen Brasinika, borrows elements from hotel boutique properties in industrial metropolitan cities. This curated exhibition installation utilizes OSB as a structural material, hinting at sustainability and a new approach to luxury and boutique hospitality. With a focus on global trends and the information society, this design aims to convey a new international framework to visitors.

Home Suite Home is a complete boutique suite occupying 32 sq meters, offering a unique innovation to apartment layouts. The upturned mirrored house that accommodates the bedroom provides privacy and adds an element of surprise to the design. The concept employs design for the six senses, referencing the brain waves that analyze stimuli perceived by smell, touch, vision, taste, and hearing. By using design and architecture to create a branded environment, Home Suite Home redefines the concepts of boutique, apartment, hotel, luxury, and bespoke.

The realization of this design involved the use of advanced pigmentation, resins, and technology to alter the nature of OSB and wood, while also providing extra strength and durability. The central module housing the bedroom is covered in mirrors, acting as a metaphor that reflects the context and locality. Laser cutting technology was utilized to enable the structure of this module. The warm neutral palette of chocolate brown and butterscotch adds a sense of familiarity, while rough custom-developed materials like burnt and waxed wood and brushed bronze enhance the essence of unrefined beauty and antiquity.

Home Suite Home was designed to be modular, making it easy for assembly, dismantling, and storage. The installation offers an innovative layout that accommodates a private bedroom inside a cubical structure, allowing for privacy while maximizing the remaining space for various apartment ergonomics and functionality. The use of materials, colors, textures, and finishes all contribute to emitting the corporate identity of the design. Mirrors were used to reflect the local context, emphasizing the importance of localization in the hospitality industry.

This curated exhibition installation was showcased at the 100% Hotel Show in Athens, Greece, from 7th to 9th February 2015. It was designed and developed by Helen Brasinika and her team from November 2014 to January 2015. Extensive research on boutique hospitality and design hotels was conducted to inform the design, with a focus on the latest trends and case studies. The challenge was to create an exhibition installation that effectively conveyed targeted messages to hospitality entrepreneurs, relying solely on the power of the concept and the experiential impact of design.

Home Suite Home was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life. By incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, Home Suite Home contributes to making the world a better place.
