The "Marilyn" Table: A Blend of Fashion, Art, and Craftsmanship

Edoardo Petri's Award-Winning Design Inspired by Marilyn Monroe's Iconic Style

Edoardo Petri's inspiration for the "Marilyn" table came from the iconic outfit of Marilyn Monroe in the movie "The Seven Years Itch". The table's base, resembling a pleated skirt, is made from top Tuscan cowhide, hand-sewn by Italian artisans. The design allows for the leather skirt to be removed and replaced, offering a dreamy transformation of the table's atmosphere with each color change.

What sets the "Marilyn" table apart is its circular design, featuring a top made from the finest Italian marbles. The base, upholstered with a hand-sewn leather skirt, is available in 47 different colors. This unique feature allows the table to adapt to various environments, creating harmonies or contrasts with the surrounding furniture and room colors.

The table's realization is a blend of technology and craftsmanship. The circular table base and the structure supporting the top are made of painted metal. The leather upholstery, characterized by a pleated style, can be replaced using a zip fastener. The table top, available in a 160cm diameter, can be chosen in marble or ceramic.

The "Marilyn" table, with a diameter of 160cm and a height of 75cm, rests on a metal plate with a diameter of 90cm. This project was conceived in Shanghai in March 2021, realized in Italy, and marketed in October 2021. The creative research for this design began with an exploration of the fashion world and its history, particularly the art of the famous Mariano Fortuny and his pleats.

The "Marilyn" table, a testament to Airnova's craftsmanship and leatherworking skills, was awarded the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
