Superstrata: Revolutionizing Cycling with 3D-Printed Carbon Fiber Bikes

Arevo's Unibody Design Offers Unprecedented Customization and Sleek Aesthetics

Superstrata, a groundbreaking design by Arevo, is transforming the cycling world with its 3D-printed, carbon fiber bikes. Offering unparalleled customization and a unique, no seat tube design, Superstrata is an innovative force in the realm of cycling technology.

Carbon fiber has long been the material of choice for cycling enthusiasts due to its strength and lightness. However, traditional manufacturing processes using thermoset carbon fiber composite are costly and offer limited customization options. Arevo's Superstrata design overcomes these limitations by employing thermoplastic carbon fiber composite and proprietary 3D printing technology, resulting in a bike with an eye-catching design and unprecedented potential for personalization.

The Superstrata bike boasts a sleek, aerodynamic ride, thanks to its unconventional, no seat tube design and in-tube battery in the ebike version. Crafted via unibody construction, the Superstrata frame is 3D printed in a single pass, free of joints or bolts of any kind. This unique manufacturing process not only enhances the bike's strength but also its aesthetics. Furthermore, each frame can be customized based on the owner's body measurements, offering a truly personalized riding experience.

Superstrata's frame is 3D printed from thermoplastic carbon fiber composite using a patented process. Arevo's proprietary software engineers the directionality of carbon fibers before a robot arm bonds them together with melting polymer. This creates a strong, streamlined, unibody structure that is highly impact resistant. The process enables an unconventional, no seat tube design that is both functional and visually appealing.

Each Superstrata frame is 3D printed based on its owner’s body measurements, accommodating riders from 4'7" to 7’4". The bike's components and colors are also customizable, with over 500,000 possible combinations. Superstrata is available in both multi-speed and single-speed versions, offering a range of options to suit different riding preferences.

Superstrata was launched in a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in July of 2020, raising over 7 million USD from more than 4000 backers. Developed and designed at Arevo’s R&D offices in Silicon Valley, the bike is manufactured on a mass scale at the company’s 3D printing farm in Vietnam. It has been exhibited at various tech conferences, including Web Summit 2021, PuzzleX 2021, and the Consumer Electronics Show CES 2022.

Superstrata's innovative design and manufacturing process have not gone unnoticed in the design world. The bike was awarded the Golden A' Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design Award in 2022, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
