In recent years, the alarming reports of marine creatures dying have become increasingly prevalent. One heart-wrenching example is the story of a sea turtle whose shell was entangled in a plastic bottle while it was still hatching. Unable to grow properly, the turtle endured a life of misery, carrying the plastic bottle with it. These helpless creatures lack the means to deal with the rubbish that humans thoughtlessly discard into the ocean.
With this in mind, Yang embarked on a mission to create powerful public service posters using modern software technology. The aim was to draw attention to the pressing ecological issues facing marine life. The resulting illustrations are visually stunning, capturing the viewer's attention with their breathtaking beauty while simultaneously conveying the urgent message of marine life conservation.
The illustrations in this series are created using vector design software, showcasing Yang's exceptional artistic skills. The intricate details and exquisite craftsmanship are brought to life through high-level printing and manufacturing technologies. The result is a collection of posters that not only captivate the eye but also serve as a powerful reminder of the need to protect our oceans and the creatures that inhabit them.
The technical specifications of these illustrations are impressive. With a sheet size of 800mm (H) x 800mm (W), the data size measures 1800mm (H) x 800mm (W) at 300dpi in CMYK color mode. These specifications ensure that the illustrations are reproduced with the utmost clarity and fidelity, allowing viewers to fully appreciate the intricate details and emotional impact of the artwork.
Yang's work is not only visually striking but also thought-provoking. The use of a strong aesthetic appeal serves as a powerful tool to engage the public and raise awareness about the critical state of marine life. By combining artistry and technology, Yang has created a series of illustrations that not only demand attention but also inspire action.
The project, which began at Northeastern University in January 2022, was completed in February 2022. Throughout the design process, Yang faced various challenges, including finding innovative ways to convey the dangerous situation faced by marine creatures. Through the use of exaggeration and abstraction, Yang successfully captures the essence of the creatures' plight, creating a visual experience that is both impactful and emotionally resonant.
Yang's illustrations have received widespread acclaim and recognition. In 2022, this design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and ingenuity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The award recognizes Yang's exceptional technical and creative skills, as well as the significant contribution this design makes to improving the quality of life and raising awareness about the importance of marine life conservation.
Through Yunjia Yang's remarkable illustrations, we are reminded of the fragility of marine ecosystems and the urgent need for action. These posters serve as a powerful call-to-action, urging us to take responsibility for our actions and make a positive impact on the future of our oceans and the precious lives they support.
