The Hat Lamp: A Blend of Art, Design, and Emotion

The Hat Lamp, a product of Yi Zhang and Zhen Wang's creative minds, is more than just a lighting fixture. It's a piece of interactive installation art that simulates the effect of sunlight streaming through a window, creating a serene and contemplative atmosphere. This unique design was inspired by a simple moment of tranquility: a tiny sunset reflected on a wall, symbolizing the connection between humans and nature.

What sets the Hat Lamp apart from other lighting designs is its interactive feature. Users can alter the top disc of the lamp to experience different sunlight moments - noon, sunset, and dusk. The round top and square base of the lamp symbolize the sky and the earth, respectively, echoing the Chinese cosmology of "the sky is round and the earth is square".

The realization of this design required extensive experimentation and intuitive thinking. The designers explored the reflection and refraction of light, the properties of different materials, and the internal structure of the installation. Through careful calculation of angles and distances, they created a new light structure that produces subtle, natural light and shadow effects, reminiscent of actual sunlight.

The Hat Lamp measures 250mm in width, 250mm in depth, and 1500mm in height. It's made from a variety of materials, including wood, metal, light bulbs, wires, optical materials, and acrylic.
