Monir Earrings: A Cultural Dance of Light and Shadow

A Unique Blend of Art and Jewelry

Inspired by the mesmerizing artwork of Monir Farmanfarmaian

Monir earrings, designed by the talented Nardin Sabounchi, are a stunning example of the fusion between art and jewelry. Drawing inspiration from an artwork by Monir Farmanfarmaian, these earrings capture the essence of her geometric and mirror works, resulting in a truly unique and culturally significant design.

Monir Farmanfarmaian, a brilliant artist fascinated by the geometry and mirror works of Iran, left a lasting impact on the art world. Her artwork, preserved in Courtesy Hains Gallery, served as the inspiration for the Monir earrings. By incorporating the geometrical lines and the reflective properties of mirrors, these earrings bring forth a sense of exotic beauty and meaning.

What sets the Monir earrings apart is their ability to create a dance of light and shadow. The angles and corners of the earrings enhance their shine, making them a captivating sight to behold. The lightweight design ensures that they are suitable for daily wear, allowing anyone to experience the cultural significance and elegance they exude.

The production process of the Monir earrings involved a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The initial sketches were meticulously crafted by hand and then transformed into 3D printed resin models using Matrix Gemvision software. The final product was cast with S925 and underwent a meticulous sanding and polishing process to achieve the desired finish.

With a weight of 5.44g and a length of 38.5mm, the Monir earrings strike the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. Each earring is like a cross, with sides measuring 7.5mm in width. The thickness of the earrings is 3mm, adding to their durability and longevity.

Monir earrings belong to the "EXO" collection, which stands for Exotic. This collection pays homage to the extraordinary artistic taste of Monir Farmanfarmaian. Her journey into mirror mosaic artwork, sparked by a visit to the Shah Cheragh mosque in Shiraz, Iran, is beautifully reflected in these earrings.

The journey from idea to implementation took place in Tehran, with research and simulations conducted from 2020 to 2021. The production process was completed in December 2021, resulting in a masterpiece that captures the essence of Monir's artistry.

Monir earrings have been recognized for their exceptional design and craftsmanship. They were awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is a testament to the innovative and practical nature of the design, as well as its ability to evoke positive emotions and contribute to a better world.

Experience the cultural dance of light and shadow with the Monir earrings. Embrace the elegance, uniqueness, and cultural significance they bring to any ensemble. Let these earrings be a reflection of your own individuality and appreciation for art.
