8 Bit: A Creative and Vibrant Office Design

Bringing Imagination to the Workplace

Inspired by the concept of 8-bit pixels, Ho Pei Lin and Chen I Ling have transformed the IT information department of an insurance corporation into a lively and exciting office space. With its unique design elements and innovative use of color, 8 Bit breaks away from the standardized workplace atmosphere, creating a space that bursts with imagination.

The designers have taken inspiration from the firm's colleagues' working style and incorporated diverse and creative elements into the space. The corporate signature wall at the entrance features a combination of different color panels, outlining the corporate name. This wall can be reordered to feature other holidays and festive seasons, creating a dynamic and ever-changing look.

The pixel style is also applied to the corporate logo, enlivening the impression of the space. The lounge area, with its green, yellow, and taupe tones, creates a soft and comfortable vibe, perfect for relaxation and informal meetings.

The corridor, with its light brown wooden floor and grass green ceiling, not only creates a unique aesthetic effect but also echoes the color configuration of the corporate logo. This thoughtful attention to detail ensures a cohesive and visually appealing design throughout the office.

One of the standout features of 8 Bit is the clever use of gradient color carpeting. This design element delivers the wave spectrum and visualizes the wavelength frequency of information transmission, adding a touch of fun and creativity to the space.

Moving to the bar area, one will find a place composed of cubic units partially colored and pieced together with the word "BAR." These units can also be lit up, accentuating the area and creating a vibrant atmosphere. The transitioning area in front of the bar is defined by yellow and black gradient carpet flooring, further leading to the meeting room.

The selection of moveable walls offers a flexible and adaptable solution for office space, making the most of it and effectively reducing idle space. The open meeting space between the Information Research and Development Department and the Operations Department allows for seamless integration and collaboration between the two working areas. Whiteboard walls are conveniently placed in the discussion areas for daily meetings and brainstorming activities.

The 8 Bit project, covering an area of 809 square meters, was completed in Taipei in April 2022. The design team faced various challenges during the project, including the selection of environmentally friendly materials and energy-saving lighting solutions. By using materials that comply with the Green Building Materials Environmental Label and LED lights, the team ensured a friendly environment and reduced energy consumption.

8 Bit has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.

With its unique and imaginative design, 8 Bit sets a new standard for office spaces, creating an environment that inspires creativity and fosters collaboration. It is a testament to the power of design to transform the way we work and interact in our daily lives.
