Elina: A Revolutionary Approach to Clinic Design

Yunjun Yang's Award-Winning Design Transforms a Woman's Clinic into a Space of Beauty and Imagination

The inspiration for Elina came from the desire to add joy to the visitors' experience. Yang and his team at INTOEX wanted to create a space where visitors could discover their beauty and transform into protagonists just by being there. The design incorporates structural beauty, the impact of unexpected objects, and the splendor of amazing colors to create a memorable experience for its visitors.

Elina's unique properties lie in its three key elements. The first is the "Imagination chink," a single wall that encourages visitors to imagine the space behind it. The visualized staircase adds to this element, hinting at the presence of an upper floor. The second element is the "roles of colors." Specific colors are used as landmarks to guide movement within the clinic. The third element is memory, with a focus on creating a cozy atmosphere that lingers in the memory of customers through tone adjustment.

The design realization technology used in Elina is as unique as its concept. The waiting room is embraced by bean pebbles in five colors, expressing the deep enriching beauty of women. The composition is designed to convey the feeling of sitting in a corner of an old square, taking a break. The floor with bean pebbles is pronounced from the ground along with a bench, and the ceiling creates a unique atmosphere where various colors and structures harmonize with natural light along the warm lighting in the dim sunset glow.

Elina was designed in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, by Yunjun Yang and Jungseon Jeon of INTOEX. The design process was a thoughtful one, with the team pondering over useful ways to add joy to the space. The result is a clinic that offers more than just medical services - it offers an experience of beauty, imagination, and transformation.

The design's excellence was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award, a prestigious accolade awarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs are admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
