Modular: A Versatile and Personalized Handle for Doors

Unleashing Creativity and Individualism in Door Design

Inspired by the human desire for personalization, Wala Sp. z o.o. presents Modular, a groundbreaking series of pull handles that revolutionizes door design. With its modular nature, this handle allows for endless possibilities, enabling users to freely mix and match components to create a unique and personalized look. This innovative solution aims to seamlessly integrate the door and handle with the building facade, resulting in a stunning and cohesive aesthetic.

Modular handles stand out from the crowd with their attention to individual taste and exceptional design. The handles are composed of independent elements, including a tube and bases that can be finished in a variety of ways. By combining different finishes, such as the full RAL palette, Anodes, Inox, and sublimation imitating wood, users can create a handle that perfectly complements their door design. The possibilities for customization are truly limitless.

One of the standout features of the Modular handle is its ability to incorporate additional functionalities. Users can choose to integrate a fingerprint reader for enhanced security or LED lights to add a touch of elegance and illumination to their door. These features not only elevate the handle's aesthetics but also enhance the overall user experience.

The production of the MPS31 series of modular handles utilizes high-quality materials, with the handles made of aluminum flat bars with a rectangular cross-section. The fastening mechanism employs streamlined wave-shaped legs, also made of aluminum flat bars, ensuring a secure attachment to the door panel. Furthermore, the handle can accommodate various access control systems, such as fingerprint readers, numeric keypads, or touch microsensors.

With its versatile design, the Modular handle offers a range of technical specifications to suit different door configurations. The tube, which serves as the central part of the handle, can vary in length from 100 to 3000mm. The bases, available in six different shapes, can be straight or bent at various angles, narrowed down to 40mm or widened up to 120mm. These components can be combined and used freely, allowing for decorative extensions and personalized touches.

The interaction with the Modular handle is intuitive and user-friendly. Each handle consists of three or five modular blocks that can be arranged, mixed, and varnished in various colors. Patterns can be cut out in the middle part, and LED strips can be added for illumination. The handle truly embodies the concept of individual personalization, empowering users to create a one-of-a-kind piece that perfectly matches their door and building facade.

The development of the Modular handle began in May 2022, and the design and implementation stages are still ongoing. Wala Sp. z o.o. continuously expands and refines the series, introducing new components and exploring additional possibilities. The team behind this innovative design includes Mateusz Duraj, who conceived the idea, Rafal Kocon, responsible for the project, and Anna Buczek-Sikora, who provided the 3D visualizations.

Extensive research has been conducted to ensure the durability and strength of the Modular handle. The fasteners used between the individual modules and the attachment of the handle to the door panel have been carefully tested and optimized. The results have shown that additional support legs should be used for certain lengths of the grip tube to enhance stiffness and ensure long-lasting performance.

Throughout the implementation of this project, the designers faced the challenge of creating universal tools that would streamline and improve the production process of the individual modules. Continuous improvements in tools, machines, and programs have made each step of creating the handle more efficient and effective.

The Modular handle has already garnered recognition in the design world, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Building Materials and Construction Components Design category in 2023. This prestigious accolade celebrates the handle's ingenious design, which combines art, science, and technology to enhance the quality of life and create a better world.
