Zafiri Cava Deli: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Architect Konstantinos Gkagkos' Award-Winning Design Combines Island Aesthetics with Classic Mansion Elements

The inspiration behind Zafiri Cava Deli's design is deeply rooted in the architectural aesthetics of an old mansion situated in the heart of an island. The storefront is adorned with imposing arches, reminiscent of classic island architecture. Inside, the harmonious blend of metal and wood, combined with aged colour tones, creates an atmosphere that transports visitors to a bygone era. The design is further enhanced by the inclusion of metal staircases, akin to those found in an old library, and emblematic chandeliers that intensify the island element.

What sets Zafiri Cava Deli apart from other retail shops is its unique design approach. The architectural design was purposefully crafted to resemble an old mansion, creating an imposing and captivating first impression. A key feature of the store is its cellar, also known as the fortress. This space was designed to mimic a traditional cellar, adding to the overall authenticity of the project.

The realization of this design was a meticulous process that involved harmonizing the island element with the ambiance of an old mansion. The extensive use of metal and wood, along with aged earth tones, encapsulates the interior and exterior of the store. The choice and placement of leather furniture further enhance the traditional mansion feel, while the imposing arches on the exterior add a touch of island prestige.

The project, spanning a total of 217sqm, was initiated in April 2022 and completed in July 2022. The main challenge was to successfully combine the island element with the classic mansion cellar. The aim was to create a unique landmark on the beach that leaves a lasting impression while satisfying customer expectations.

The design study aimed to create a project reminiscent of a traditional mansion at the heart of an island. The arches adorning the window provide a unique aspect to the store. The stately cellar of the store plays a significant role in the design plan. The application of classic chandeliers contributes to the overall atmosphere, intensifying the island style to the fullest.
