Whiteland, designed by Ching Feng Chang, is a unique and elegant residential space that showcases a light color rendered hierarchical design. The concept behind this design is to create a space that exudes a sense of quality and sophistication. The use of different materials and colors throughout the space adds depth and texture, resulting in a visually stunning interior.
The public areas of Whiteland utilize wallpaper, stone, metal, and light belts to create a textured and visually appealing atmosphere. The curved surface modeling of the ceiling and the arrangement of the curved sofa add a touch of youthful grace to the spacious room. The master bedroom continues the design vocabulary of the public area, incorporating titanium plated metal frames and glass materials to enhance the boutique-like feel of the dressing room. The private area features personalized touches, such as the grain of quartz brick on the floor, adding a sense of individuality.
One of the key features of Whiteland is the seamless integration of different functional areas. The design incorporates a medial walkway that connects all the functions, ensuring a smooth flow throughout the space. The entry hallway, for example, features a door piece that doubles as a shoe cabinet, with adjacent storage rooms for added convenience. This centralized storage solution allows for a more spacious living room, maintaining a transparent and open feel while maximizing natural light.
The challenges faced during the design process included reconfiguring the original layout to better suit the needs of the couple living in the residence. By transforming two of the rooms into a shoe storage room and a mini bar, more space was opened up for the public area. The goal was to avoid a long and narrow layout, achieved through unobstructed walkways and carefully planned block series. This resulted in a broad and visually appealing living space.
Whiteland is a testament to Ching Feng Chang's design expertise and attention to detail. The use of streamlined lines, linear metal strips, and indirect lighting on the ceiling creates a sense of elegance and sophistication. The facade of the cabinets and doors features a fuzzy surface metal finish, adding a touch of glamour to the overall design. With its white base and carefully curated elements, Whiteland offers a truly boutique living experience.
Whiteland was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award recognizes the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. Whiteland's integration of industry best practices and technical characteristics contributes to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its inhabitants.
