Citra: A Minimalist Indonesian-Style Home Interior

Blending Tradition and Minimalism for a Luxurious Living Space

As an Interior Design & Interior Architecture company, Juan Farell Haryanto and Ie Ie Han drew inspiration from the beauty and culture of Indonesia to create Citra, a minimalist Indonesian-style home interior. By incorporating elements of traditional Indonesian design into a minimalist aesthetic, they have elevated the interior quality of this space.

Focusing on simplicity, functionality, and the use of local materials, Citra embodies the principle of "less is more." The designers aimed to create a serene and calming atmosphere by seamlessly blending inspiring Indonesian nature with modern minimalism. The color palette for this unique minimalist interior is limited to shades of brown, grey, and black, adding a touch of elegance and timelessness.

The realization of Citra involved the use of high-pressure laminated finishing, showcasing the designers' commitment to quality. Proudly made from Indonesia's finest woods and materials, the design features custom-built-in furniture combined with own-made custom loose furniture, resulting in a harmonious and cohesive space.

The functionality of Citra is evident in its thoughtful design elements. The wardrobe, for example, maximizes space and tidies up the room, while strategically placed mirrors create an illusion of a larger space. These practical features enhance the overall user experience and contribute to a more organized and efficient living environment.

The Citra project commenced in May 2022 and was completed in December 2022. It was showcased at a local award exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, where it received recognition for its outstanding design and execution.

Extensive research underpins the design choices made for Citra. Studies have shown that minimalist interiors can have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing by reducing clutter and simplifying the visual environment. Additionally, incorporating local materials into the design supports local communities and reduces the environmental impact of sourcing materials from distant locations. Citra proudly utilizes local materials, such as plywoods and marbles, to create a sense of place and connection to the surrounding environment.

Overcoming challenges in maximizing spaces, Juan Farell Haryanto and Ie Ie Han have successfully created a minimalist Indonesian-style home interior that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Their expertise in space planning and attention to detail ensure that every corner of Citra is fully utilized and visually appealing.

The minimalist luxurious home of Citra is characterized by its simple, clean design, high-quality materials, and attention to detail. By keeping things uncluttered and focusing on quality over quantity, the designers have created a space that exudes luxury and sophistication. The carefully curated selection of furniture and decor items adds both functionality and beauty to the overall design.

Recognized for its excellence, Citra was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award acknowledges Citra as a well-designed, practical, and innovative creation that meets professional and industrial requirements. The design integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
