Yuta Takahashi's "To Beauty": A Cosmic Journey in Skincare

Unveiling a Unique Skincare Brand Inspired by the Rhythms of Nature

Yuta Takahashi's "To Beauty" is a skincare brand that transcends the ordinary, drawing inspiration from the cosmic oneness of meditative experiences. This article delves into the unique properties, design realization technology, and the profound healing experience that this award-winning brand offers.

Yuta Takahashi, a renowned designer, has created a skincare brand that stands out in the crowded beauty industry. "To Beauty" is a brand that seeks to heal the mental exhaustion of modern society by awakening individuals to nature's rhythm. Takahashi's inspiration stems from the desire to bring deep healing to people, akin to how the sun and moon shine on us as equals and how Mother Earth nurtures us.

The brand's unique properties lie in its concept of "awakening to nature's rhythm". It presents a unique and unprecedented vision through its mystical color palette, organic symbology expressing the pulse of life, and a luxurious, meditative experience akin to a high-end spa. The brand's packaging features a unique screw nozzle design and a hygienic, preservative-free, airless container, offering a profound healing experience to its users.

The realization of this design was a meticulous process. Takahashi created the brand's signature palette, Shade Gray, through more than 200 color matching runs and over 50 physical samples of varying materials. The caps for the facial cleanser and skin toner are double-layered, with a hard ABS exterior and soft PP interior, providing an improved texture and fit. The caps also feature a grained surface and foil stamping with an engraved symbol on top.

The interaction with the products is designed to be a unique experience. The specially structured screw nozzle of the facial cleanser ejects an ideal dense foam with a single push, reducing skin irritation from friction. The eyelash beauty serum uses an innovative airless container that is preservative-free and hygienic. Even the fitting inside the cap, which normally receives little attention, is beautifully designed in a crescent shape to enhance the brand.

The design project began in Nagoya in October 2020 and concluded in April 2022. The brand was announced at Beauty World Japan in Tokyo in May 2022. The underlying research for this design involved a sociological perspective on human behavior and culture, seeking to find the cultural impulses needed for the future. The result is a distinctive identity for a skincare brand that fills the void of deep healing through oneness from meditative experiences.

The design challenges were immense. Takahashi explored Anthroposophie to understand the meditative and cosmic consciousness. The team discussed how the planets interlock as one to nurture us and created a symbol that would represent this dynamic, organic life force. Inspired by the cosmos, Shade Gray resides quietly and is a companion to anyone's lifestyle. The brand's vision is consistent and of high quality, thanks to the diligent design process.

In recognition of its innovative design and unique vision, "To Beauty" was awarded Silver in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2023. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. "To Beauty" is indeed a testament to Yuta Takahashi's remarkable design prowess and his ability to create a brand that resonates with the rhythms of nature.
