Most cameras on the market have poor designs, causing users to feel uncomfortable and intimidated due to their rough and prominent shapes. However, the design of the Play camera, created by Suong Ho, is both functional and visually pleasing, making it suitable for modern architectural spaces. With a focus on appearance, it increases its appeal and positioning as a decorative item. The design philosophy of Ambient Intelligence incorporates the golden ratio - Fibonacci to promote contentment and facilitate easy living.
The Play camera takes its core inspiration from Scandinavian design, focusing on simplicity, minimalism, and functionality. It aims to complement the art of living well by promoting a simple home environment filled with quality items and enhancing an unencumbered lifestyle that is free from excessive consumerism. This design philosophy is reflected in the clean lines, muted colors, and harmonious layout of the camera.
Measuring at 69 mm in width, 69 mm in depth, and 110.85 mm in height, the Play camera is compact and unobtrusive, allowing it to blend seamlessly into any space. Its matte finish and plastic housing further enhance its sleek and modern aesthetic.
The Play camera stands out from other cameras on the market not only in terms of its design but also its functionality. Equipped with WiFi connection and a silicone stand, it can be easily installed and placed anywhere. Once connected, users can control the camera through the FPT Camera multi-platform app, which offers a range of features including panning up to 355 degrees, 2-way talk, face recognition, guard zone, and more. With a Sony image sensor, the Play camera captures high-quality Full HD video, which is recorded in real-time and securely stored on the cloud.
The development of the Play camera was not without its challenges. The design team had to balance production feasibility, technology, and aesthetics to create a camera that would meet users' tastes. They spent approximately 5,000 hours working on the design, from idea and sketch to mockup and final product. In terms of software, AI technology and cloud computing were utilized to provide the best features and customer experience.
The FPT Camera Play project started in September 2021 and was completed in February 2023 in Vietnam. It was recently launched in March 2023 and will be available for sale in Vietnam from April onwards.
The Play camera has already received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Security, Safety, and Surveillance Products Design category in 2023. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
The FPT Camera Play combines Scandinavian design principles with Ambient Intelligence to create a camera that is not only smart but also decorative. With its sleek and minimalist aesthetic, it seamlessly integrates into any modern architectural space, enhancing both the functionality and visual appeal of the environment.
