At the intersection of design and dermatology, Serum's packaging is a nod to the swift efficacy of the product it encases. Inspired by the iconic black and white checkered flag of the grand prix, the design symbolizes the rapid action of the serums in protecting and rejuvenating the skin. This visual metaphor is not just an aesthetic choice but a representation of the product's promise to deliver results at an accelerated pace.
Frezyderm's Face Serum, the product within this award-winning packaging, is a suite of six serums each formulated to enhance skin elasticity, diminish wrinkles, and provide essential hydration. The packaging's metallic texture, embossed pattern, and the prominent FACE SERUM logo all contribute to the anticipation of a premium and effective skincare experience. These design elements combine to create a tactile and visual statement that resonates with the medical community for whom it is intended.
With dimensions meticulously calculated for optimal presentation and storage, the box measures 202.5mm in width, 46.623mm in depth, and 108.3mm in height. The design's technical specifications are a testament to the thoughtful consideration given to every aspect of the product's presentation. The collaboration between Andromachi Kakava and George Ziakas, the design team members, has resulted in a packaging that is both functional and visually striking.
The design journey of Serum began in April 2022 and reached completion in November of the same year, all taking place in Athens. The research phase focused on creating a packaging that would not only inform doctors but also suggest a treatment protocol for their patients. The challenge lay in the execution of the embossed detailing on the silver box, a task that required precise coordination with the printing team to achieve the desired effect.
Andromachi Kakava's Serum packaging is more than just a container; it's an invitation to experience the power of advanced skincare. The design's success at the A' Packaging Design Award underscores its excellence in integrating industry best practices with innovative aesthetics. It's a celebration of design that meets the high standards of professional dermatology, offering a glimpse into the future of cosmetics packaging.
As Serum takes its place among the ranks of award-winning designs, it sets a new benchmark for how cosmetics can be presented to the professional market. Its unique properties and realization technology make it a standout example of how design can enhance the perception and utility of a product, ensuring that it is not only seen but remembered.
