Drayton Gardens: Where Classic Meets Contemporary

Stephanie Rackind and Ana Saprygina's Masterful Interior Fusion

Exploring the synergy of minimalist design within a classical context, Drayton Gardens emerges as a testament to the innovative vision of designers Stephanie Rackind and Ana Saprygina.

In the heart of London's South Kensington, a top-floor residence has been transformed into a bespoke living space that epitomizes the blend of traditional architecture with modern minimalist design. The project, conceived by the design duo O-Dome, serves as a luxurious retreat for a finance professional who splits his time between two countries. The designers faced the challenge of creating a space that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally versatile, catering to the client's dynamic lifestyle.

Drayton Gardens stands out due to its unique approach to design realization. O-Dome's meticulous selection of materials is evident throughout the property, with a consistent use of stone in kitchen worktops, washbasins, and bespoke furniture pieces. The team's dedication to a minimalist ethos led them to design every detail, from custom joinery and furniture to washbasins and even light switches, ensuring a cohesive and refined environment.

The design's technical specifications are as impressive as its aesthetics, with the 127-square-meter space meticulously planned to accommodate the client's needs. The interior functions seamlessly, transitioning from an office to an entertainment area and then to a home, with integrated solutions for air conditioning, lighting, temperature control, and audio-visual systems. These elements were carefully incorporated to maintain the design's clean lines and minimalist appeal.

The project's success is a result of extensive research and collaboration between the designers and technicians, ensuring that the new design elements complemented the existing classical features. The team overcame significant challenges, including strict regulations and the delicate structure of the period building, to achieve a harmonious blend of old and new.

Drayton Gardens is not just a living space; it is a carefully curated environment where every element has been thoughtfully designed to create a sense of harmony and luxury. The project's commitment to bespoke solutions is evident in every corner of the flat, with each piece crafted to resonate with the space's individual style and the client's personal needs.

Photographed by Peter Molloy in 2023, the project has been recognized for its excellence with a Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2024. This accolade celebrates the project's creative ingenuity and its contribution to enhancing quality of life, further solidifying Drayton Gardens as a paragon of design innovation.
