The challenge of crafting a living space that caters to the playful spirit of children while maintaining a sense of sophistication is no small feat. Jian Hui Wu approached this dilemma with a transformative vision for the residence's living room. By shifting to a horizontal layout, the designer not only optimized the area for family activities but also introduced a dynamic rhythm into the home's heart.
At the core of "Hidden In Wide" lies the loop layout, a design choice that allows for a seamless flow akin to a musical composition. This clever circulation planning is complemented by a pure color palette dominated by whites, accented with wooden floors and camel-colored furnishings. The result is a space that exudes simplicity, nature, and a warm ambiance conducive to free play and family bonding.
Material selection played a pivotal role in realizing this design, with a thoughtful mix of Silestone, stone plastic composite flooring, and other eco-friendly materials. The social areas bask in natural light, with a greenery view that amplifies the depth of the field through material diversity and American lines that inject life into the space. In contrast, the private quarters embrace softer hues to cultivate a sense of freshness and tranquility.
Spanning 218 square meters over two floors, the residence is a testament to Jian Hui Wu's dedication to creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply functional. The social areas, including the living room, dining room, play area, and piano area, are designed for interaction and engagement, while the private spaces offer a serene retreat.
The design's success is rooted in its ability to balance the visible and the hidden, the loud and the quiet. Each area within the residence holds its unique essence, from the serene piano room to the lively children's play area, without one overshadowing the other. This thoughtful approach to design has earned "Hidden In Wide" the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2024, a recognition of Jian Hui Wu's commitment to excellence in design that enhances quality of life.
With "Hidden In Wide," Jian Hui Wu has not only met the client's needs but has also crafted a space that stands as a testament to the power of design to create environments that are both functional and enchanting. This project serves as a beacon of inspiration for those seeking to merge the practical with the beautiful, proving that a home can be a canvas for both play and repose.
