Francesca De Blasi, a Sardinian designer, has created a unique beachwear and fashion collection that combines traditional design with innovative technology. The Gilda and Metamorphosis collections, inspired by the iconic wrap dress of the 70s and the femme fatale character Gilda, are a testament to De Blasi's creative prowess and technological ingenuity.

The Metamorphosis collection is a reinterpretation of the wrap dress, a symbol of the epochal revolution when women became more self-aware and independent. This versatile dress adapts to the body, emphasizing the female figure and serving as a strong communicative and seductive tool. The pattern, a crucial element of the icon, is no longer printed but realized by laser cutting technology on leather, creating a new effect based on the overlap of layers and stacking of materials of different weight, feel, and colors.

The Gilda collection, inspired by the famous character played by Rita Hayworth in the 1946 film, embodies the figure of the femme fatale. The clothes, all black, are embellished with compositions of petals and Swarovski crystals, creating a strong contrast between light and darkness. The collection is composed of a bikini, a long dress with a cut detail in the back, and a little black dress (LBD).

One of the standout pieces in the collection is a dress made of 100% leather cut with laser technology. This convertible dress can be worn in five different ways, demonstrating the collection's focus on versatility and adaptability. The dress can also be worn open as a coat, showcasing the innovative design and the designer's attention to detail.

The collections were designed and made in Milan for an international competition, SMAC Fashion Awards, held in Salerno. The shooting was carried out by a team entirely composed of Sardinian people at Villa Siotto, Sarroch - Sardinia, Italy. The collections were a finalist in the International Contest "S.M.A.C Fashion Award" in Salerno, Italy, and were awarded Golden in A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award in 2013.
