100 Bites Dessert: A Design Feast by Danny Chan

Humorous Design Meets Sweet Delights in Unique Restaurant Concept

100 Bites Dessert, a unique restaurant design by Danny Chan, offers a humorous and engaging dining experience. Inspired by the concept of a bite, the design incorporates graphic portraits, teeth models, and celebrity visuals to stimulate customers' taste buds. The design was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2013.

The design's unique properties lie in its ability to evoke the taste of a sweet brand through its bits and bites theme. The restaurant's interior is a blend of modern nostalgia and black humor, with white mosaic walls and flooring contrasting against brown glass walls. The ceiling is adorned with a hundred biting icons, each representing a unique taste from different walks of life. This creates a unique and interesting atmosphere that aligns well with the restaurant's key product - desserts.

The dining hall is a testament to the design's theme, with bites featured on the wall, tables, cups, and ceiling. The most eye-catching feature is the mirror Mao-shaped super graphic on the wall. Pendant lights made up of hundreds of fake teeth sets echo the bite design on the table, highlighting the design symbols hanging above the booth seats area and the big table in front of the dessert bar. This creates a curious mood for the space.

The dessert bar, a long white marble structure, is designed to present 100 desserts to please dessert lovers. Next to the dessert bar is a signature white wall arranged with 100 white cups carrying 100 icons, creating a unique and lively art exhibition in the form of product display. The contrasting key colors of coffee brown and pure white provide an impressive ground for every designed icon.

Booth seats are designed like three leathered boxes inserted into a time tunnel, providing private spaces where designed biting icons from different decades line up on the walls right above the tables. These special graphic expressions, highlighted by back-lit lights, are designed to boost customers' appetites and eating moods.

Humor is not only a composition of the design but also a tool for creating commercial branding value for the space. A product display cabinet at the freestanding cashier offers customers a chance to own the designer cups and plates sealed with the biting icons, thereby privatizing the space. Here, art and design become a total branding package that lights up the space and provides a unique, memorable customer experience.

In conclusion, 100 Bites Dessert by Danny Chan is a unique blend of design, humor, and gastronomy. It offers a unique dining experience that stimulates the senses and leaves a lasting impression. The design's success is evident in its Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2013, a testament to its innovative and engaging design.
