Knauf Arena: A Unique Exposition Space

Unveiling Knauf's Re-branding and Re-structuring Efforts

The Knauf Arena, spanning over 10,000 m², was designed with the concept of quick assembly and disassembly in mind. In just 5-6 days, the arena could be built, and in a single day, it could be taken down. This flexibility allowed Knauf to use the space for various events and exhibitions.

The interior of the Knauf Arena was meticulously designed to provide visitors with a 360-degree unobscured view of the entire space. The central core of the arena featured a multi-functional "event plaza," surrounded by circular arena-like steps that served as a seating and standing platform. Beyond this central area, seven color-coded display stages showcased Knauf's expertise categories, each topped with floating cone-like structures representing the systems and related products.

The cone-like structures, created through a design matrix, not only added visual excitement but also transformed the interior space with their size, shape, and color. Made of three layers of stretched PVC membrane and equipped with RGB LED lights, these structures provided a captivating lighting design. The exteriors of the cones attracted visitors' attention, while the interiors served as display spaces for moving digital projections.

The Knauf Arena also featured a 255-meter-long "product wall" that separated the main stage from the 24 performance and demonstration rooms. This wall, hanging 3.5 meters off the ground, allowed visitors to have an unobstructed view of the exhibition from every angle.

Completed between September 28th and October 2nd, 2012, the Knauf Arena was showcased at the CNR Exposition Center in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 3rd to 7th. Its unique design and innovative features earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in 2013, recognizing its outstanding contribution to interior space, retail, and exhibition design.

The Knauf Arena stands as a testament to the creative and technical skills of designers Kerem and Begüm Yazgan. With its seamless integration of art, architecture, design, and technology, it exemplifies Knauf's commitment to excellence and innovation in the construction materials industry.
