Samlee Office: A Minimalist Oasis in the City

Creating an Interactive Relationship Between Work and the Urban Landscape

Without fussy details, the Samlee Office was designed by a simplicity oriental aesthetics. This concept matches with the speedy developing city. In this highly running information society, the project presents the interactive relationship between the city, work and people – a kind of intimately relation of activity and inertia; transparent overlay; permeation blank.

Samlee Office, designed by Yong Cai Huang, is a stunning example of minimalist design inspired by the city's metabolism and oriental aesthetics. The project aims to create an interactive relationship between the urban landscape, work, and the people who inhabit the space. With its transparent overlay and permeation blank, the office space offers a unique and dynamic environment for productivity and creativity.

The main theory behind the layout of Samlee Office is to seamlessly connect three original architect units. This concept breaks away from the traditional formalistic space and organically assembles the public area, open office, and semi-enclosed office. The users move through a streamlined plane and fold-lined elevation, creating an ambiguous and communicative interior space.

The core line of the office, resembling a meandering river, guides the flow of people and corresponds to the oriental aesthetics of "opening, developing, changing, and concluding." The twist center line runs through all the functional areas, adding a sense of movement and energy. A special "blank-leaving" with triangle transparent fold lines overlays and infiltrates the space, building a four-dimensional binary relationship between people and time.

The materials used in the project include Chinese Ash, enhanced composite wood floor, ultra-clear glass, and frosted stainless steel. These materials not only contribute to the minimalist aesthetic but also enhance the overall functionality and durability of the space.

The Samlee Office project, which started in June 2012 and was completed in November 2012 in Guangzhou, China, has received numerous accolades. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2014. This prestigious award recognizes the exceptional expertise and innovation demonstrated in the design. The Samlee Office stands out for its strong technical characteristics, splendid artistic skill, and ability to evoke positive feelings of amazement and wonder.

Yong Cai Huang, the designer behind Samlee Office, explains that the project was inspired by the concept of minimalism from the city's metabolism. By creating a space that fosters an interactive relationship between the city, work, and people, Samlee Office offers a unique and inspiring environment for productivity and creativity.

With its minimalist design, transparent overlay, and permeation blank, Samlee Office is a testament to the power of simplicity and the impact it can have on our daily lives. By breaking away from traditional office design, this space encourages collaboration, communication, and innovation, making it an ideal oasis in the bustling city.
