A Symbol of Simplicity and Sophistication

Samadara Ginige, a professional logo/graphics/UI/UX designer and web developer with over 10 years of experience, has created a personal identity that truly represents her unique style and expertise. The logo, designed in 2012, showcases her commitment to simplicity and sophistication in her work. With clients from around the world, Samadara's designs stand out for their clean and imaginative approach.

The logo is a monogram of the letters "s" and "g," representing Samadara Ginige. Drawn with a single line, the two letters are connected and intertwined, showcasing her design skills with a touch of femininity. The design needed to be aesthetically appealing while remaining simple and unique, as it was created for a designer. The clever and clean design resembles the infinity symbol, symbolizing Samadara's ability to deliver end-to-end solutions from design to development.

To bring her vision to life, Samadara sketched several concepts before finalizing the design in Adobe Illustrator. The logo is designed to have a 20-pixel padding around it, maintaining left or center alignment in digital or print work. It can be used in its original color on a white background or in white on dark grey or black backgrounds. Samadara also created two versions of the logo, horizontal and vertical, to accommodate different spaces and dimensions.

As a green designer, Samadara primarily uses her logo on digital interfaces. She has chosen not to use printed business cards or letterheads, as her logo is already recognized by design communities and clients. However, she plans to incorporate her logo on the tag of a line of printed t-shirts to be launched soon.

The project to create Samadara Ginige's personal identity started in November 2012 in Colombo and was completed in December 2012. Throughout the design process, Samadara conducted extensive research on how to present herself uniquely while avoiding common symbols and icons used by other designers. She referred to logo and identity galleries and design communities to ensure her logo stood out.

Designing a new monogram that was professional, elegant, clean, and clever proved to be a challenge for Samadara. Many logos representing designers use symbols like pencils, pens, and brushes, or variations of "sg" monograms. However, Samadara's logo successfully captures her style and expertise, setting her apart from the crowd.

The Samadara Ginige personal identity logo has received recognition for its creativity and ingenuity. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
