Flügel Haus

The initial concept for the Flügel Haus was to create a structure composed of two distinct elements - a social space and a private zone. The social space, located along the road, is an open, glass structure that allows for ample natural light and a connection with the surrounding landscape. The private zone, on the other hand, is a separate block with strategically placed windows that provide privacy while still offering views of the surroundings.

The design of the Flügel Haus takes advantage of the variation in terrain and the presence of the road. The roof of the social space resembles the wings of a bird in take-off, creating a sense of open space and a seamless integration with the landscape. The bedrooms, all located in the private zone, offer privacy and comfort, with each bedroom having its own en-suite bathroom.

The Flügel Haus is constructed using reinforced concrete, with insulation made of styrofoam. The dimensions of the building are 15.2m (depth) x 17.2m (width) x 8.4m (height), providing ample space for comfortable living. The project, led by Viacheslav Deev and Ain Koit, started in July 2011 and was completed in November 2012 in Tallinn. Construction commenced in January 2012 and finished in March 2013.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2014. The Flügel Haus stands out for its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. It showcases a harmonious blend of technical characteristics and artistic skill, leaving viewers with a sense of amazement and wonder.
