Sun protection coaching bracelet

We wanted to create a new device to follow up UV exposure since people tend to be unaware of the quantity of UV their skin receives in their daily life. UV cannot be perceived by human senses alone. However, sun exposure can cause sunburn and lead to premature skin aging, even on overcast days. We thought it would be extremely useful to provide a simple UV measuring device. The bracelet communicates with a companion App on the user's smartphone, where the user can follow up his sun exposure and get personalized sun protection advice. Besides, we wanted it to be beautiful and to look like a piece of jewelry in order to blend into the users' daily life. We teamed with renowned French jewelry designer Camille Toupet to create this fine piece of jewelry.

JUNE is a sun protection coaching bracelet. It is the first bracelet that measures sun exposure. It is connected to a companion App in the user’s smartphone, which advises women how to protect their skin on a daily basis from the effects of the sun.

JUNE and its companion App offer a new serenity in the sun. June tracks UV intensity in real-time and the total sun exposure absorbed by the user’s skin throughout the day. Depending on the user’s skin type, time spent in the sun, and UV Index intensity, the App in the user’s smartphone calculates the maximum daily exposure. Every woman can monitor their sun dose, measured in percentage, throughout the day.

To avoid sun damage, the App notifies the user when and how to protect their skin, giving precise Sun Protection Factor sunscreen recommendations.

The App also features a summary of time spent in the sun, allowing the user to see when the UV rays' impact on the skin was most intense during the day.

JUNE is made with an alloy metal center piece and a leather wrap band. Its design, created by French jewelry designer Camille Toupet, resembles a diamond with glimmering facets. This unique design allows JUNE to be worn as a bracelet or as a brooch, adding versatility to its functionality.

JUNE received the Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2014.
