A ten year anniversary logo to celebrate 3M Polarizing Light's launch here in Singapore. Here we play with premium colors of gold and silver, set against the anti-glare technology depicting a simple yet timeless logo in relevance to the light rays.
The project started in January 2013. It was featured in leaflets, press materials, brochures, internal presentations as well as Point of Sales Materials in stores from 2013 onwards.
Experimenting about what to feature the rays was the challenge in this project. The ideas that came to mind was fireworks but execution was not an easy task. Plus adding multiple colours would make the design too fanciful. We studied multiple firework bursts and experimented with graphics but it was too cluttered. In the final stages we decided to use the idea of round rays which proved to be effective as we tried overlapping to create a firework display. We kept the colours to metallics using gold and silver, which immediately gave us the edge.
The brief was to create a logo that not only reflects what 3M™ Polarizing Light is about but also market it as a premium brand in table lamps. Using the idea of overlapping light rays that is soothing to the eyes, reflecting the anti-glare experience. The overlaps is designed in such a way that it depicts a celebration of fireworks. The number ten sits against the graphic, showing the sharpness of the numerals where there are no reflection due to the glare. The colours gold and silver is used to feature the premium feel of the lamp, the quality as well as the technology of the brand itself.
