The Sketchy table is a design that combines functionality and creativity, making it a standout piece in any space. Inspired by the designer's love for the 70s and the nostalgia of childhood memories, this table is not only a dining table but also a sketch board.

What sets the Sketchy table apart is its simplicity and versatility. At first glance, it may seem like a regular dining table, but it unfolds to reveal a "cavalletto" style sketching and drawing board. The light curves on the wooden structure and the edges of the top surface add a touch of retro charm, reminiscent of the 70s.

The table's top surface is made using CNC technology, creating a curved shape that adds visual interest. It is crafted from a combination of wood and a glossy lacquered MDF panel, creating a unique and eye-catching surface. The legs and structure of the table are made from walnut wood, connected using traditional joining techniques.

Measuring 2500 x 900mm, the Sketchy table offers ample space for dining and sketching. The height of the table is set at 770mm, providing a comfortable working or dining experience. The lift mechanism of the table allows for easy adjustment, enabling users to find the perfect angle for sketching.

Designed with versatility in mind, the Sketchy table can be used in various settings. It functions as a dining table, a convention table, a meeting table, and thanks to its lift mechanism, a sketch board or presentation board. Its sleek Scandinavian design and contemporary aesthetic make it a stylish addition to any space.

The Sketchy table is a concept project that was developed by Xenofon Hector Grigorelis. Extensive research was conducted to ensure the stability of the table, especially considering its inclined legs. The choice of wood and the tilt mechanism were carefully considered to achieve optimal functionality and aesthetics.

In recognition of its innovative design, the Sketchy table was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
