The Emperor UA Sparks cinema is a visual feast from the moment you step inside. The skylight at Vivo City in Foshan floods the space with natural light, illuminating the striking black and white tones that adorn the interior. The ceiling modules, resembling scattered pieces in a kaleidoscope, allow beams of light to penetrate the cinema, creating a dazzling first impression. Stainless steel strips dissect the white marble floor, reflecting the illusion of flying paper pieces from ceiling to floor.
As you journey from the shopping center to the cinema, you are greeted by irregular-shaped structures made of black oak timber strips. These polyhedrons guide you towards the ticket box counter, which seamlessly merges with a TV screen backdrop. This design choice showcases the ambition and creativity of the project, emphasizing the importance of form and shape.
Continuing into the lobby, you are enveloped in a space that combines dark and light contrasts. The white ceiling, reminiscent of paper scraps, allows light to seep through, while the black oak finished fixtures depict the cinema's logo, creating an origami-like atmosphere. This rhythmically designed space sets the stage for the diverse worlds of movies that await.
As you venture further into the lobby outside the theaters, black takes center stage. The black oak finish dominates the walls and a significant portion of the ceiling, creating a thunderbolt-like effect within the interior. Soft light emanates from the light troughs along the edges of the fixtures, tempering the vibrant atmosphere and creating a more intimate ambiance.
The Emperor UA Sparks cinema is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to meticulous design. The team at OFT Interiors overcame challenges such as structural constraints and acoustics to create a seamless and immersive cinematic experience. The choice of materials, patterns, and forms were carefully selected to ensure optimal acoustics, working closely with consultants and clients to provide the best solution.
