The World Graphic Day Poster Exhibition held in Tehran in 2014 was a unique international invitational poster exhibition that featured 37 designers from various countries, including Mexico, Spain, Germany, the USA, Japan, Turkey, and Iran. The objective of the exhibition was to create a platform for interaction between designers of different nationalities, allowing them to express their perspectives on International World Graphic Day. This event aimed to bridge the gap between the new and old generations of designers and promote cultural exchange.
The visual identity of the exhibition, designed by Morteza Farahnak, was used as name tags next to each poster and served as the main image for the exhibition poster. The cone-shaped poster, resembling a map point when viewed from the top, was a representation of the exhibition's theme and location. The exhibition showcased a variety of posters, each presenting World Graphic Day from the perspective of the respective designer's country.
The posters and name tags were digitally printed on foam-board, with the specifications for the tags being 75mm in width, 5mm in depth, and 150mm in height. The posters were sized at 100 x 70. The exhibition started on April 27th, 2014, at the Tehran Artistic Scope and concluded on May 10th. It was later exhibited at the Alborz Artistic Scope in August 2014.
Morteza Farahnak faced the challenge of designing something that would appeal to both designers and non-designer audiences. He adopted the principle of "less is more" and created a visually striking and thought-provoking visual identity for the exhibition. The cone-shaped poster and pin map combination showcased the magic of graphic design and effectively communicated the event's purpose.
The World Graphic Day Poster Exhibition in Tehran was a successful showcase of international design talent and a celebration of World Graphic Day. The visual identity, with its unique form and function, served as a representation of the exhibition and the participating designers' perspectives. This design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015 for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness in incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
