SASA Bottle

Water Packaging

Designed by Hakan Gürsu, the SASA Bottle is a product group designed for the bottled water market in Turkey. It is made from a new, BPA-free plastic material, and its structural design aims to express the innovative characteristics of the material and brand image. The bottle features a distinctive form, color, shapes, and patterns, resulting in an aesthetic, sturdy, and tangible bottle with a superior taste.

The SASA Bottle is produced using injection blow molding technology and is made from BPA-free plastic with a high melting temperature. Its unique form, with a circular profile that smoothly turns into a super-circle shape, allows for increased volume in a certain space with its square-like bottom. The bottle is designed for reuse and refill through a deposit system, making it a more sustainable alternative to PET or glass water packages.

Targeted at a high-end market, the SASA Bottle product group is exclusively available in restaurants and upper segment supermarkets. It includes 0.5 liters, 1 liter, and 1.5 liters of water packages, catering to different consumer needs.

The SASA Bottle project was completed in Ankara between 2013-2014 within a timeframe of 6 months. The design was based on market research that revealed a lack of differentiation among existing water bottles, prompting the need to create a design identity that communicates the brand effectively.

One of the main challenges in creating the SASA Bottle was combining a simplistic shape with high durability. This was achieved through the unique properties of the BPA-free plastic developed by Sasa Polyester.

The SASA Bottle received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015 in the Packaging Design category. This award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that contribute to quality of life improvements. The SASA Bottle stands out for its technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
