An Innovative and Playful Office Design by Bean Buro Architects

The design of the Bean Buro Office was inspired by draped fabrics, resulting in a combination of soft and hard forms. Located in Wanchai, Hong Kong, the office features a long library wall with a dreamy gradient wall that changes from blue to turquoise. This striking feature adds a touch of elegance and visual interest to the space.

One of the highlights of the office is the central meeting table, which was custom-designed with playful curves. Two oversized pendant lights hang above the table, creating a focal point and adding a sense of drama to the space. The meeting table can be extended to accommodate more people, making it a versatile and functional piece of furniture.

In addition to the library wall and the meeting table, the office also features a gallery wall that allows for flexible exhibition of the studio's recent productions. This casual exhibition adds a personal touch to the space and showcases the studio's creativity and talent.

The realization of the design involved the use of various techniques and materials. The gradient wall was spray painted with two colors, creating a seamless transition from blue to turquoise. Felt fabric, known for its high acoustic properties, was used to create the curtains, meeting chairs, and large pendant lights. The bespoke meeting table was produced using CNC laser cutting, ensuring precision and quality.

The Bean Buro Office is not only visually stunning but also functional. The central space, with its curvy meeting table and pendant lights, serves as a gathering place for staff and visitors. It encourages social interactions and provides a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The table can be extended to accommodate more people, making it suitable for various activities and events.

The project started in August 2014 and was completed in September 2014. Despite the challenges of budget and speed, the design team managed to deliver a creative solution that met the client's requirements. The use of pre-fabricated elements reduced the site construction time to just 21 days, while still maintaining a high level of quality and aesthetics. These elements also have a long life cycle and can be relocated for future use, making them a cost-effective choice.

The Bean Buro Office has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2015. This prestigious award acknowledges the creativity and resourcefulness of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life.
