Selfie: A Gastronomic Space with a Unique Design

A Simple and Fashionable Interior Design

The customer had an idea to create a gastronomic space with an open kitchen so that the guests could see the food being cooked. As for the interior design, it was necessary to make it simple and succinct yet comfortable and fashionable.

In the heart of Moscow, a unique dining experience awaits at Selfie, a restaurant and bar designed by ARCHPOINT. With its open kitchen concept, guests can witness the culinary magic unfold before their eyes. But it's not just the food that sets Selfie apart; it's the thoughtfully designed interior that creates a comfortable and fashionable ambiance.

Selfie's design is all about balance and attention to detail. From the complicated lighting, mostly built-in, that creates a unique atmosphere, to the minimum design and maximum comfort in furniture, every element has been meticulously thought out. The simple shapes and warm textures of the materials used add to the overall charm of the space.

One of the standout features of Selfie is the use of olive and rosemary plants as interior decoration. Guests can pluck leaves from the trees and add them to their dishes, enhancing the gastronomic experience. It's these small touches that make Selfie truly one-of-a-kind.

The realization of the design involved a combination of different materials. In the kitchen, brass shelves for alcohol beverages were attached to the wall above the chefs' working area, adding a touch of elegance. Metal, granite, and glass were used in the kitchen decor, while a metal painted wall at the entrance creates a cool and modern atmosphere, balanced by the warmth of wood and plants throughout the space. The furniture, ordered from original manufacturers in Europe, is of the highest quality, elevating the overall perception of the interior.

Selfie spans a total area of 570 square meters, with the public area covering 300 square meters and the kitchen area occupying 270 square meters. With 130 seats available, there is ample space for guests to enjoy their dining experience.

The design team behind Selfie, led by chief architect Valery Lizunov, included designers Ekaterina Ageeva, Natalia Sisauri, and Alexandra Shemetillo. Together, they overcame various challenges to bring the customer's vision to life. One of the main challenges was to create a design that didn't distract guests from the main focus of the restaurant, the open kitchen. The result is a design that seamlessly integrates with the culinary experience, providing both comfort and functionality.

Selfie opened its doors in May 2014 at the NOVINSKY PASSAGE Class A Retail and Business Complex in the historical center of Moscow. The project, which started in 2013, has since garnered recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2015 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative interior space.

Selfie is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the open kitchen concept to the carefully curated interior design, every aspect has been thoughtfully considered to provide guests with a gastronomic journey like no other.
