Elegant Charm: A Modern and Inviting Residential House

Introducing Chang Yu Chiu's Unique Design

The interior design of Elegant Charm, created by Chang Yu Chiu, showcases a modern style that outlines the residence with clean, straight lines in a neat manner. What sets this design apart is the use of natural elements such as marble and wood, instantly making the space feel fresh and inviting. The large, floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to adorn the interiors, creating a light-filled atmosphere.

The open traffic flow in the house offers a sense of spaciousness and allows for a seamless transition between rooms. Transparent glass and mirrors are strategically used to open up the available space and give the rooms a feeling of depth. This clever combination not only enhances the visual appeal but also creates a sense of expansiveness.

In the 120 square meter space, Elegant Charm features three bedrooms, one living room, one dining room, two bathrooms, one kitchen, and a study room. The design team, led by Chang Yu Chiu, carefully considered the layout to ensure functionality and comfort.

The half-height bar divides the dining area and kitchen, creating independent spaces that are still intimately connected. Instead of a solid wall behind the sofa, gray glass is used to keep the spaces separate while allowing them to remain visually linked. This see-through design provides an unobstructed view throughout the open-plan room, allowing daylight to travel and creating a bright and transparent depth of vision.

One of the design challenges was to provide a space for guests to stay overnight. In the study room, a couch stands next to the window, while a high cabinet at the back offers ample storage space and conceals a standing gallery shelf for valuable collections. The bedrooms continue the modern style of the public sphere, with different shades of wood grains and warm white daylight creating a warm and uncluttered space.

Elegant Charm was completed in January 2021 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The design was meticulously researched and executed to achieve a balance between aesthetics and functionality. The result is a residence that exudes elegance and charm, while also providing a comfortable and inviting living environment.

Chang Yu Chiu's design for Elegant Charm has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. The design exhibits strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
