Shin-Yi Lin, a renowned designer, has created a unique residential house in Taipei that offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. This 150 square meter apartment is a testament to the power of design in creating a serene and calming environment.
The interior spaces of the house are cleverly separated by color tones, forming a route that guides residents when they come home. As one enters the gallery-like foyer, a calm voice quiets the clamor, setting the tone for the rest of the space. The bright and clean living area welcomes visitors with open arms, enveloping them in a pure atmosphere that takes away all vexations.
One of the standout features of this design is the use of glass to provide extension views through the spaces. Conversations between the rooms not only expand the space but also add more fascination to them. Exploring new angles at home becomes a delightful experience, as the transparent walls create a sense of openness and connection.
The challenges faced during the design process were overcome with creative solutions. The floor height of the apartment was below average, which could have made the space feel oppressive. However, by purifying the color tones and creating a partly see-through effect, the designers were able to expand the sight of minds. The white color scheme, extending from the ceiling to the walls and floor, creates a borderless, seamless room that erases the restrictions imposed by height.
The use of chestnut flooring in the bedrooms adds a touch of warmth and comfort. The fragrant smell of the wood creates a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
Shin-Yi Lin's design for this residential house in Taipei is a testament to the power of creating a sanctuary within the city. By prioritizing purity, tranquility, and simplicity, this design offers residents a much-needed escape from the chaos of urban life.
