Creating Artistic Spaces in an Irregular Pentagon

Lin Yu Wei, a renowned designer, has created a stunning home interior design called Pure Essence. This design showcases the perfect blend of art, architecture, and functionality, resulting in a unique and captivating living space. Inspired by the importance of light in our lives, Lin Yu Wei has transformed an irregular pentagon-shaped space into a masterpiece of design.

One of the key challenges in this project was how to utilize the space in an irregular pentagon. Lin Yu Wei's solution was to adapt the designs to the given shape and carefully arrange all elements to allow the rough stone to shine. By restructuring the available space and rearranging skylights, light-absorbing shades, and windows, adequate natural light is brought into every room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Taking inspiration from origami, Lin Yu Wei folded the iron parts extending from the entrance hall into three large frames that serve as support for designer lighting fixtures. This postmodern ambience, combined with the shifting light throughout the day, creates fascinating patterns that play on the walls, enhancing the overall artistic effect of the space.

The design specifications of Pure Essence include a total area of 2486 sq ft, providing ample room for comfortable living. The design team, including Platino Interior Design and Lin Yu Wei, worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.

The interaction within the design is carefully curated to create a harmonious and visually stunning experience. The steeply arched curve of the staircase's underside seamlessly merges with the surrounding shapes and lines. Light installations further enhance the interplay of light and shadow, generating a kaleidoscope of splendid geometric shapes.

Pure Essence is located in Taipei, Taiwan, and the project took place from August 2012 to May 2013. The design was driven by the desire to create a living space where the main focus is not something as impersonal as a TV set. Instead, a fireplace was added to enhance comfort and create a warmer atmosphere. The main bathroom was cleverly separated into two units, ensuring that dry and wet spaces are neatly divided.

This exceptional design has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This award recognizes the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated by Pure Essence. The design showcases a remarkable level of excellence, evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
