inCare: Revolutionizing Hospital Critical Beds

Enhancing Patient Care and Nursing Ergonomics

inCare, designed by Younes Daneshvar & Ali M. Khomami, is a groundbreaking hospital critical bed that aims to accelerate acute care for patients in urgent situations while improving nursing ergonomics. With its innovative design and user-friendly features, inCare is set to revolutionize the healthcare industry.

inCare was born out of the designers' passion for medical equipment design and their desire to address the challenges and needs in this field. Through extensive research and collaboration with manufacturers, Daneshvar and Khomami created a bed that not only meets the functional requirements of a hospital critical bed but also enhances the interaction between nurses and patients.

One of the key features of inCare is its user-friendly controllers and parts, which have been designed with a focus on natural postures. This design approach reduces physical injuries to nurses' bodies, preventing back pain, shoulder issues, and hand syndromes caused by repetitive tasks. The bed's headboard follows the natural hand position of nurses, making it easier and more comfortable for them to rotate and move the bed.

The bedside guards of inCare are also designed with ergonomics in mind. Nurses can release, lift, and lock the guards more conveniently due to their ergonomic shape and lock position. This not only improves efficiency but also reduces the risk of injuries caused by awkward movements.

Furthermore, inCare prioritizes patient comfort and mobility. The handles inside the bed are easily accessible for patients in sleeping and sitting positions. They can use the handles as support to help them rise and lower their bodies. Additionally, by pushing the button on the handle, patients can adjust the backrest of the bed to their desired position.

The design of inCare is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The use of ABS plastic in the headboard and side rails gives the bed a sleek and modern look. The dimensions of the entire bed, headboard, and bedside guards have been carefully considered to ensure optimal functionality and comfort.

The inCare project started in March 2011 in Tabriz and was completed in August 2012 in Tehran. It was exhibited in Iran Health 2013, showcasing its innovative design and potential to transform patient care in hospitals.

Recognizing its excellence, inCare was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skills, and a commitment to improving quality of life. inCare's innovative features and contribution to the healthcare industry make it a true game-changer.

With its unique design, focus on patient care, and improvement of nursing ergonomics, inCare sets a new standard for hospital critical beds. It is a testament to the power of design and innovation in transforming the healthcare experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
