EcoZip: The Thrilling Rollercoaster Zip Line

A Unique Tree-Based Adventure Designed by Frederic Galimard

EcoZip is a rollercoaster zip line that combines the thrill of a rollercoaster with the excitement of a zip line, creating a one-of-a-kind adventure experience. Designed by Frederic Galimard, this innovative design allows participants to slalom around trees while suspended in the air, providing a thrilling and safe ride for people of all ages and abilities.

EcoZip stands out from other zip lines due to its unique features and eco-friendly design. Unlike traditional zip lines that travel in a straight line, EcoZip can be as long as a straight zip line but with twists, turns, and loops around the trees. The design incorporates a double pipe system, with a large pipe guiding the rider and a smaller pipe used for attachment in the air. This design also includes a specially designed pulley with three sets of four wheels, allowing for precise control of the pulley's path on both pipes and at different angles.

The realization of the EcoZip design involves the use of circular steel pipe tubes, chosen for their strength and flexibility. The track is suspended using wire rope catenary cables anchored to suitable trees, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. The passenger pulley is equipped with custom-made wheels that fit the specific diameter and materials of the track design, providing a smooth and safe ride. The wheels can be adjusted to suit the conditions of each site.

With its customizability, the EcoZip design can be tailored to suit specific locations. The steel pipe track can span over one kilometer in length, offering a thrilling adventure through the forest. Participants are strapped into a purpose-built harness and attached to the designed pulley. Once released, they gather momentum as they twist around trees, experience sudden drops and tight curves, and even navigate a 720-degree loop. The layout of the track is adapted to the natural features of the land and trees, creating a unique and exhilarating experience.

The development of the EcoZip design was a result of extensive research and testing. Frederic Galimard aimed to create a zip line with corners, combining the thrill of a rollercoaster with the suspense of a zip line. Prototypes were built and tested to determine the best combination of pipes, pulleys, and attachments. The construction process involved trial and error to adapt to the variables of each site, such as the geographical fall of the land and the density of trees.

EcoZip has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Sporting Goods, Fitness, and Recreation Equipment Design category in 2016. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding expertise and innovation demonstrated by the design, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

Experience the thrill of the EcoZip rollercoaster zip line and embark on a tree-based adventure like no other. Whether you're seeking an adrenaline rush or a unique outdoor experience, EcoZip offers an eco-friendly and exhilarating journey through the forest.
