A Calming and Elegant Ring Design by Jerry E Taylor

Jerry E Taylor, the talented designer behind Mystic Falls, found inspiration for this design during a memorable hiking trip in the mountains of China. As he followed a river up to a beautiful waterfall and Buddha Temple, he was struck by the serene beauty of the surroundings. The flowing rivers and vibrant springtime flowers left a lasting impression on him.

Mystic Falls is a ring that aims to capture and calm the heart using smooth flowing lines of diamond baguettes, representing the tranquil flow of a river. The top layer of the ring symbolizes the excitement and renewal of spring, with vivid pink sapphires representing the blossoming flowers that surrounded the river. The combination of flowing water and blooming flowers creates a perfect balance that is pure and naturally elegant.

Using advanced CAD technology, Jerry E Taylor meticulously designed Mystic Falls in Rhino 5. The ring is made from platinum and 18K red gold, with each part carefully assembled and polished to ensure the highest quality. The rope-like detail on the ring is made from twisted 18K red wire, assembled using a laser welder. The choice of diamond baguettes and vivid pink sapphires adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the design.

Mystic Falls is a size 6.5 US ring, measuring 14mm wide. When worn, it brings a sense of calm and connection to nature, while also adding a touch of excitement to one's life.

This design project took more than 12 hours of design and layout work, followed by an additional 6 hours of rendering. Jerry E Taylor's research for this design was based on his personal memories of a special moment when he first met his wife and the time they spent together in nature.

One of the creative challenges Jerry E Taylor faced was laying out the design for the baguettes and ensuring they flowed seamlessly. Baguettes are known to be one of the most challenging stone shapes to work with, but the designer's skill and determination resulted in a stunning and harmonious design.

Mystic Falls pushes the boundaries of design with its use of baguettes, creating a truly unique and elegant piece of jewelry. The flowing lines of the baguettes represent the calming flow of a river, while the top layer symbolizes the excitement and beauty of springtime flowers. This design has been recognized for its creativity and resourcefulness, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
