UM Junior: A Revolutionary Approach to Kid's Retail Space

AS Design's Innovative Store Design Inspired by a Child's Toy

The design concept of UM Junior is based on the child's toy Crazyforts, a unique construction toy made of a ball feeder and connecting rods. This simple structure allows children to create a variety of possibilities, sparking their imagination and creativity. The designers have ingeniously incorporated this feature into the store design, creating a space where children can explore and have fun while shopping.

The store, located in the Shoppes at Cotai Macau, a luxury duty-free shopping hub, spans an area of 100 square meters. It houses world-renowned luxury children's clothing boutiques such as "Aquascutum Junior", "Armani Junior", "Moschino Junior", and "Ralph Lauren Kids". The store's design is a harmonious blend of natural colors and gold, creating a visually appealing and vibrant space.

The realization of this design involved the use of various materials such as metallic painting, wooden veneer, stainless steel in golden color, leather, and emulsion painting. The most challenging aspect of the project was the design of display furniture with metal structures. The designers and metal manufacturer spent a significant amount of time developing different combinations of metal structure situations to facilitate on-site installation and control the overall cost.

UM Junior is not just a retail store; it's a space where children are the truly honored guests. The store's design encourages children's curiosity, independence, and creativity. The designers hope that this space will not just be a place for shopping but a place where children can explore the many possibilities.

UM Junior's innovative design has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2016. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. It is a testament to the innovative approach of AS Design Four Lau and Sam Sum and their commitment to creating unique and engaging spaces.
