The design of DA AN H HOUSE is rooted in the concept of "usability". TAN SHU-CHING has created a living space that not only caters to the daily needs of the residents but also enhances their life experiences. The house features a kitchen with a magnetized shelf for spice jars, customized trolleys in the study area, and clever storage solutions throughout the house.
The uniqueness of this project lies in its detailed orientation towards the family's daily living. The design mirrors the habits and main activities of the residents, resulting in a living space that is both functional and personal. The open plan space, which includes the living room, kitchen, dining room, and piano area, extends visually to the terrace and plant wall, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
The house is constructed using a variety of materials including wood, veneer, stainless steel, metal, tile, and wooden flooring. The designer faced the challenge of applying plywood and wood veneer in different environmental conditions, such as dry, cold, warm, and moist. The curving shape of the wooden ceiling had to be maintained in different temperatures and humidity levels.
The project, which started in May 2013 in Taipei City, Taiwan, and was completed in July 2014, spans an interior space of 195 square meters and an outdoor space of 73 square meters. The design also incorporates nature ventilation principles to keep the house at a comfortable temperature and reduce air conditioning usage.
DA AN H HOUSE is a shining example of how a residential house can be transformed into a unique and personalized living experience through innovative design and thoughtful customization. It is a testament to TAN SHU-CHING's ability to create a design that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and user-friendly.
