Pure Dancer: A Sophisticated Office Design by TSENG CHUAN CHIEH

Creating a Harmonious Blend of Light and Space

Pure Dancer is a project for a professional LED manufacturer, and the designer has ingeniously used their own lighting products as the centerpiece of the space. By hiding the light sources within the room, the entire office becomes a giant light, creating a mesmerizing and immersive environment.

The design of Pure Dancer focuses on preserving the original structure's beauty while incorporating minimal, sophisticated optics and acoustics. The curved landing in the center of the office space softens the edges and adds a touch of elegance.

One of the key challenges faced by the designer was convincing the business owner, who is a lighting manufacturer, to refrain from installing their own products within the space they operate in. However, by removing traditional light riggings and offering subtle, sophisticated light sources, the physical space itself takes center stage.

The realization of Pure Dancer involved hiding the air-conditioning, cables, and wiring within the partition walls, creating a clean and unobstructed ceiling. The acoustic echo was resolved using localized leafy greens on wooden gratings, and wood-effect panels adorn the beams, with the lighting cleverly hidden within.

Within the square frame, curved lines are used topically to soften the visual perception, echoing the oriental philosophy of yin and yang. This harmonious display creates a serene and tranquil atmosphere, promoting a sense of balance and well-being.

Pure Dancer is not only a visually stunning office design but also a testament to the designer's ability to create a space that maximizes natural light and minimizes renovation costs. The simplicity of the near 'naked' design adds to its allure, showcasing the most natural face of the space.

The Pure Dancer project was completed in March 2015 in Shenzhen City, China. It has received recognition for its outstanding design and innovation, winning the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is a testament to the remarkable level of excellence and creativity demonstrated by TSENG CHUAN CHIEH in the creation of Pure Dancer.
