What sets this design apart is the integration of space at the porch, where an open public area seamlessly connects with the living room. To create a visual separation, the designer has incorporated a screen shelves screen adorned with paintings of fishes and aquatic plants. But this is not just a decorative element; the screen also serves as a supportive structure made from deformed bars. Additionally, a two-layer water tank cleverly recycles air conditioning and reverse osmosis water, showcasing the project's commitment to green energy-saving mechanisms.
Unlike mainstream designs that rely on luxurious construction materials, Chih-Ming Lin focuses on creating space characteristics and customizing functionalities. The play of light and shadow, combined with compatible materials, creates an atmosphere that evokes warmth and nostalgia. The arrangement of elements within the space fosters a sense of coherence and connection, reflecting the residents' personal memories and experiences.
The design specifications for this project include a total area of 96 square meters. Within this space, the designer has carefully considered the needs of the family members, creating a multi-functional resting area that expands the public space. The elevated floor and glass sliding doors optimize flexibility, allowing for privacy when needed and openness when desired. Such versatility is rarely seen in residential designs and highlights the designer's brilliant skills.
One of the notable challenges overcome in this project was the creation of the main bedroom and kids' room at the end of the aisle decorated with white bricks. The black floor in the main bedroom adds an unexpected touch of drama, while the white and purple triangular patterns on the wall, splendid neon lights, and the bathroom furnished with glass and line curtains exude the charms of a modern hotel style.
Completed in April 2014 in Taichung City, Taiwan, this design is a testament to Chih-Ming Lin's dedication to creating unique and captivating living spaces. The integration of heavy metal rock and roll aesthetics into residential design is a bold and innovative approach that pushes the boundaries of traditional interior design.
