Slow Time: A New Approach to Residential Design

ZhenLong Zhao's Award-Winning Design Embraces Nordic Style

The design is a flat layer residential space, consisting of three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a study, and two bathrooms. The use of black, white, and ash contrast colors, with a small amount of light throughout the design, gives the space a modern feel. The composition of the fireplace, facade, and smallpox, along with the play of light and shadow, adds grace to the space, making it full of infinite imagination. In this space, time seems to stand still.

The realization of this design involved the use of materials such as silk fabric, leather, grey special wallpaper, wood veneer, wood floor, stone, and stainless steel. The setting of the fireplace in the living room adds warmth to the space. The project owner, who has a deep artistic background and a preference for modern European style design, was involved in the design process, ensuring the space met their preferences.

The project, which covers 300 square meters, started in October 2017 and was completed in October 2018 in Tian, China. The design style was positioned as Nordic modernization, integrating selected famous brand furniture into the design space to create an active atmosphere. The design process involved several adjustments to meet design effect and function due to budget constraints. However, additional expenses were incurred to ensure the project's completion.

The design faced several challenges, including budget constraints and increasing costs of labor and materials. However, through several design adjustments and the owner's willingness to incur additional expenses, the design was successfully implemented. The owner's involvement in the design process and good communication were key to the success of the project.

"Slow Time" was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019.
