Unlike the towering luxury mansions that dominate most urban landscapes, "A World in the Building" is a sprawling, low-rise villa located in the suburbs of Yuanlin City. The design draws inspiration from the concept of universal harmony, incorporating vast green public spaces, plantings, and sports facilities to create a serene and tranquil environment.
The facade of the building exudes contemporary simplicity with its stone pavements, receded windows, stone collages, and terrace plantings. The interior design continues this theme, with a living room that features a black stone and sycamore wall, light-colored polished floor, white ceiling, leather couches, and grey-black mirrors. These elements come together to create a silent and elegant atmosphere.
The kitchen, adjacent to the living room, serves as a space for family interaction. The use of bright and light materials, coupled with an open space design and a warm dining area, completes the living experience. The bedrooms on the upper floor extend the contemporary simple style, with a main bedroom that contrasts deep and light, bright and dark tones. A large terrace outside the French window provides a laid-back atmosphere with wicker chairs, a wooden platform, and luxuriant plantings.
The design project, which was completed in August 2014 in Changhua County, Taiwan, covers an area of 400 square meters. The project was part of a larger redevelopment plan in the outskirts of the central city, where wide areas with fewer people have become ideal locations for expansive, low-rise mansions.
Yi-Cheng Chi's "A World in the Building" faced creative and technical challenges, particularly in creating a design that would allow residents to live harmoniously with their environment. The design's unique features and innovative approach to residential design earned it the Silver A' Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
With "A World in the Building," Yi-Cheng Chi has successfully created a residential space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also promotes a comfortable and relaxing lifestyle. The design serves as a testament to Chi's innovative approach to interior design, blending contemporary design elements with natural features to create a harmonious living space.
