The LELO HEX is a revolutionary condom that combines strength, thinness, and sensation through a unique structure. The design incorporates an integrated network of hexagonal cells into a pre-existing and pre-approved material, keeping the latex ultra-thin and offering an experience that is both pleasurable and safe. This innovative design helps to fight slippage, increase sensation, and enhance strength while keeping the material incredibly lightweight.
The creation of the LELO HEX required the invention of a new production process and the development of glass molds. The design team went through hundreds of iterations before settling on the ideal number of individual cells: 350. This perfect balance of cells ensures stability and performance.
More than just a new condom, the LELO HEX aims to rebrand condom use. Every aspect of the product, from the minimalist, non-glossy packaging to the more tactile wrappers, has been carefully considered. Unrolling a HEX condom is designed to be a satisfying experience, making it an addition to the experience rather than a hindrance.
The project, which began in 2009, faced significant challenges, including hostility from existing brands and the need to overcome the inertia of the condom industry. Despite these obstacles, the LELO Design Team persevered, resulting in a product that is not only innovative but also award-winning. The LELO HEX was awarded the Golden A' Design Quality and Innovation Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that advance art, science, design, and technology.
The LELO HEX's advances and innovations are rooted in its unique reengineered hexagonal structure. Taking cues from architecture and nature, the material is incredibly thin overall, but without compromising on strength and protection. The raised structure is on the inside surface, for an increase in grip and a more comfortable fit. This design is a testament to the LELO Design Team's commitment to promoting safe sex through innovative design.
