A Playful and Artistic Home for a Family of Five

Inspired by the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle, the Martinez Residence is a design that caters to a family of five with young children. The interior features a mix of neutral textures and vibrant pops of color, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who enters.

As you step into the entry area, you are immediately greeted by beautiful wainscoted walls, metallic cork wallpaper with gold flecks on the ceiling, and a custom medallion on the floor. A custom curved bench invites you to sit and take in the surroundings, while bold black and white stripes line the walls of the living room, adding a touch of drama.

Metallic paint is carried onto the ceiling in the living room, creating a sense of continuity and luxury. Crisp white drapes frame out the fireplace and windows, while a grand 6-foot-tall fireplace with a large mantle serves as the centerpiece, bordered by custom artwork and crushed glass rocks below.

Every room in the Martinez Residence is layered with its own unique details, creating a seamless transition from one space to another. The design is a perfect marriage of classic and trendy elements, with a floor plan that caters to the needs of a family with children while still being an entertainer's dream.

The design team, led by Anna Shiwlall and Sanaz Tousi, carefully considered every detail to ensure a cohesive and harmonious design. The challenge was to create a bold and unique space without overwhelming the senses. By carefully selecting materials, textures, and patterns that complemented each other, they achieved a design that is both visually stunning and functional.

The Martinez Residence took two weeks to design, with construction and the majority of the custom furnishings taking approximately 3-4 months. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the design, from the floor-to-ceiling moldings in the rotunda to the laser-cut mosaic tile runner down the hallway.

This design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
