Finishfire Frame: Aesthetic Safety by Sanna Liimatainen

Blending Design and Necessity for a Safer Home

Finishfire Frame, a unique design by Sanna Liimatainen, ingeniously combines aesthetics and safety. This stylish frame serves as a hidden cabinet for fire extinguishing equipment, ensuring these essential tools are always within reach, yet seamlessly integrated into your home decor.

The inspiration for the Finishfire Frame came from the need to place fire extinguishers in the living room near the fireplace. Liimatainen wanted to create a design that was simple yet interesting, and would ensure that the fire extinguishers were not only visible but also easily accessible. The result is a stylish frame that can house a picture or artwork of your choice, with the fire extinguishing equipment cleverly concealed within.

What sets the Finishfire Frame apart is its unique properties. The frame doubles as a cabinet for your extinguishing equipment, offering quick access when needed. The fire blanket can be pulled out from below, while the spray extinguisher can be removed from the top of the frame or by opening the cabinet. The picture sheet insert slides vertically out, allowing for easy changes. According to Liimatainen, there is nothing comparable on the market.

The Finishfire Frame is made of three sheet metal pieces, with no welding required. The frame opens the same way as a trash can lid, providing easy access to the extinguishing equipment. The frame is mounted on the wall at eye level, and the plastic sheet insert can be easily replaced with any image you like. There is also space for a glass plate cover, adding to the versatility of the design.

The design process for the Finishfire Frame began in January 2016 in Espoo, Finland, and concluded in November 2016 in Forssa, Finland, when the first industrial frames were manufactured. The project faced several challenges, including creating a three-dimensional image indentation without welding and designing a logo that was stylish yet easy to read. Despite these challenges, Liimatainen successfully created a design that is both aesthetic and functional.

The Finishfire Frame has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Silver A' Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design Award in 2017. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The Finishfire Frame certainly fits this description, offering a unique solution to a common problem and enhancing the safety of homes in a stylish and practical way.
