The inspiration for Artisans House came from nature and the basic forms that underpin it. The rustic theme, which emphasizes time-worn, handcrafted elements constructed in earthen materials, is evolved into a modern space that remains in the shadow of nature. This approach allows the design to create a timeless language that is a fusion of contemporary and rustic styles.
Artisans House is not just another office space. It is a showcase of unprecedented thinking and meticulous work. The interiors are designed to stimulate creativity, offering both formal and informal spaces that foster a unique work culture. The layout is planned with the climatic situation in mind, aiming to achieve energy conservation and reduce carbon footprint.
The realization of this design involved the skillful fusion of rustic and contemporary styles using materials such as leftover construction steel, bricks, timber, concrete, insitu flooring, and bamboo. The use of bamboo fenestration towards the south reduces the internal temperature by 8-10 degrees, obstructing the south glare, saving energy and reducing the carbon footprint.
The project started in 2015 and was completed in 2016 in Pune, India. It involved the development of a four-storied structure, with the first and second floor spaces designed for the architect's office. The project brief included a reception and waiting area, a conference room, studios, discussion areas, a principal cabin, directors' cabins, pantries, and toilets. The total project cost was 223,531 Euros.
Artisans House was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
