Ziniu Yipin: Redefining Chinese Spirits with a Bold Logo Design

Breaking the Mold of Traditional Chinese Spirits Branding

The logo design for Ziniu Yipin, a Chinese spirits company, challenges the norms of the industry and presents a fresh and energetic image. Designed by Si Hu, the logo combines elements of Spanish bullfighting and the evaporation process to create a unique and captivating brand identity.

Inspired by the scenes of Spanish bullfighting, Si Hu, the designer behind Ziniu Yipin's logo, sought to capture the passion, enthusiasm, and fearlessness associated with the image of a bull in the bullring. The name of the brand, "Ziniu Yipin," translates to "purple bull" and "one tasting" in English, further emphasizing the connection to this powerful and vibrant animal.

Unlike other Chinese spirits brands that typically target middle-aged men, Ziniu Yipin aims to appeal to a younger demographic of 20 to 35-year-old adults. The logo design reflects this target audience by breaking away from the serious and traditional style commonly seen in the industry. By choosing a bull as the brand's image, Ziniu Yipin challenges the conventional perception of Chinese spirits and presents a more youthful and energetic identity.

The logo itself is a combination of the bull's horn and tail, symbolizing the flow and transformation of Chinese spirits. The use of soft curves instead of hard straight lines adds a sense of fluidity and elegance to the design. The choice of a gradient ramp for the colors creates a visually striking effect, giving the logo depth and dimension. This versatile color scheme allows for different variations of the logo to be applied based on the brand's requirements.

The Ziniu Yipin logo measures 65 mm x 35 mm x 125 mm, making it suitable for various applications, including product packaging, advertising, and marketing materials.

The design team behind Ziniu Yipin's logo includes Si Hu as the product manager, along with designers Jie Liu and Yueshi Jin. Their collaboration and expertise resulted in a logo that perfectly captures the essence of the brand and resonates with its target audience.

The project, which took place in Tianjin, China, began in May 2016 and was completed in December 2016. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to understand the target market and differentiate Ziniu Yipin from its competitors. Ziniu Yipin's logo design has received recognition and acclaim, winning the Iron A' Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and professionalism, contributing to a better world.
