Across cultures and epochs, trees have been a symbol of life, wisdom, and immortality. Kim's fascination with trees, their branching silhouettes reaching skywards, and their constant regeneration, forms the bedrock of her design inspiration. The 'Tree of Life II' is not merely a physical representation of a tree but an abstract embodiment of its profound, symbolic values.
The ring's unique design features naturally flowing curves, signifying the perpetuity of life. The intricate combination of different gemstones, each representing the complexity and diversity of life, adds to its visual impact. The colored gemstones and pearls symbolize the cyclical nature of life, while the spiral branches reflect the energy of life.
Kim's meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the ring's realization. The 'Tree of Life II' is a handcrafted jeweled ring, created using the wax carving method. The designer used soft wax, shaping it with a heated spatula, to formulate the free curved lines. The ring band, representing infinite vitality, is designed as two embracing trees bearing fruits towards the sky. The 'Eye of Wisdom' is represented by an amethyst prong setting, adding to the ring's spiritual significance.
The ring is made of 18k gold (white and pink) and features a main stone (amethyst, pink sapphire, pearl), sapphires (pink, blue, and/or yellow), and diamonds (blue, purple, white, and/or multi-color). The brilliant combination of these gemstones maximizes the visual impact, perfectly encapsulating the design concept and the shape of the ring.
Kim's design philosophy transcends the conventional view of jewelry as a mere expression of individuality or beauty. She believes that jewelry can satisfy the artistic and emotional needs of people, especially those who appreciate the artistic value of unique and rare designs. Her 'Tree of Life II' ring is a testament to this belief, offering not just a wearable piece of art but a story that transcends time and trends.
The 'Tree of Life II' ring is a crowning piece in Kim's spiritually inspired jewelry collection. It follows her 2016 A’ Design Award winner, embodying such values as vitality, the circle of life, and enlightenment from the eyes of wisdom. The ring's design, symbolizing a state of enlightened rest after attaining the ultimate knowledge of life, earned it the Silver A’ Design Award in 2017, a testament to its remarkable design and innovation.
